"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you..." John 15:16

Today was a sunny Sabbath.....

I just adore sunny Sundays. Though God never changes the Scriptures tell us, the sun beaming down seems like a heavenly smile that blesses His special day.

Sundays are a celebration of all that is good. Faith, family, feasting. God created this special day just for us, so that we could revel in His blessings, take a break from labor, and lift our worship to Him.

Soak up these words from Ecclesiastes 3:13 "And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God."

Every good thing comes from Him. And a sunny Sunday is one of them. Thank you, Lord.

It is a wonderful feeling - scooting our scrubbed and curled and clipped and sprayed kiddos out the door, through the Sabbath sunshine and taking our place at the piano bench for prelude (or 2nd pew, piano side.)

But for me (when we were pastoring) Sunday night was sortof a "crash" night. Homeade pizza, zoning out for David, a video for the kids, and some classic crooners on the radio for me.

Candles were lit, Sunday school lessons were taught, Jr. Church survived, loads of kids driven home in our minivan, special song sung, worship led, sermon preached, hands shook, candles blown out...and the day was done.

That was our time to review the day - good and bad. And that was often the time homesickness and tiredsickness and parsonagesickness would creep up. Perhaps some tears. Certainly some chocolate.

We still have our own version of the "Sunday Night Crash." Only now we're in a support role.

It is actually a good thing, I think. Sortof an emptying of the old week, on with the new.

I too enjoy the sunny Sundays. I can identify with Sarah's comments about the Sunday evening feelings. Thanks to both of you for your comments/blogs.
